Elementary Sample Curriculum: Greendale School District, Greendale, WI
For many years, elementary teachers have reinvented the wheel and created their own curriculum over and over and over again. At this website, you will find curriculum written since 2009, guided by the thinking and thematic planning of Helena Curtain, and implemented in classrooms by an elementary World Language team in Greendale, Wisconsin, consisting of Jessica Bradley, Carol Hartmann, Theresa Kruschke-Alfonso. Click below to go to the Google Drive Folder for this curriculum. There are grade level folders with 3 units inside of each folder. Inside of each folder, there are Unit Plan Inventories, which explain the entire unit, from beginning to end, including assessments. PLEASE DO NOT IMPLEMENT THE CURRICULUM WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE UNIT PLAN INVENTORIES. These documents are gold and important to correctly implementing the unit, as activities are not the heart and soul of learning. It is also always worth noting the curriculum is a work in progress.
The curriculum can be used and modified for your needs in your classroom. Each unit is thematic, and ties together for the whole year. The first and second grade students are looped for easier management of 375 students. Each class has Spanish class three times each week for 25 minutes. At the WAFLT Fall Conference, WI-NELL holds a Saturday Networking session, and there is a huge need for this curriculum to be published. In the Google Drive Folder below, there is access to an entire curriculum folder, resources, tools, theories, and eventually more units that have been submitted by other teachers around the state of WI! Let's add the next C and Collaborate!
In each folder, there are also materials, assessments, etcetera. Please dig deep and take a look! For questions or missing information, please email [email protected]. Please do not publish this curriculum as if it were your own, for example, on websites like Teachers Pay Teachers. This Elementary World Language Curriculum is available to you so that students can have a great language learning experience in classrooms everywhere. It is not perfect, we are always revising. If you have anything that you would like to share with us, please do so.
