Helpful Hints for Starting a Program

 1.  Research educational benefits of early language learning specific to your district: increased cognitive development, increased language proficiency, 21st century skills and global awareness

2.  Assess community support:  conduct surveys, communicate benefits to employers in the future, explain how languages are currently incorporated into curriculum

3.  Choose a language (or languages): based on local community, global necessity

4.  Research different types of programs: content-related, content-based, partial immersion, total immersion, dual immersion
